They answer the question. We look beyond the words.

Discover a different approach to lie detection. Our AI-assisted technology analyzes eye responses during a short smartphone test. One specific question, about 15 minutes, and a real person to guide you through the process.

Serving Florida and the entire United States, all 50 states. The test is taken remotely, on your own phone.

A one-minute walkthrough of the Converus testing app: it loads your personalized test, guides the phone into position and runs the scored test.

The test is only as good as the question.

People compare technology when they shop for a lie detector. Then they bring it a feeling instead of a question.

A feeling can’t be tested. A specific act, in a specific period, can.

We help you turn one into the other before you take anything.

Example
Not testable

Are you honest with me?

Testable

Between March and June, did you have sexual contact with anyone else?

What the usual route looks like.

You can spend weeks checking a phone and asking the same thing in different words. Then comes the polygraph appointment.

  • A polygraph means an examiner’s office, sensors on the body and a date on their calendar.
  • The person taking it has to travel there too.
  • An examiner interprets the charts.
  • And you still have to know exactly what to ask.

Smarter technology. Clearer results.

The test doesn’t weigh what a person says. It measures what their eyes do while they say it.

  • The camera records the eyes

While the test taker answers, the phone camera records pupil changes, eye movement and how long each answer takes.

  • AI scores the video

The recording uploads when the test ends and is scored automatically. No examiner’s opinion is involved.

  • It adapts to each person

Each test taker’s responses are compared with their own answers to comparison questions, not with an average.

  • About 15 minutes, on any phone

On iPhone or Android. Set aside 30 minutes: the test itself takes about 15, and the report usually follows within minutes.

Our solution is built on Converus’s technology. ATW is Converus Certified.

The science behind the test

The research starts from one finding: lying takes more mental effort than telling the truth, and the eyes show that effort.

  • University research

The method, called the ocular motor deception test (ODT), came out of research at the University of Utah.

  • Peer-reviewed studies

Studies of the method have been published since 2009, including in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied.

  • Patented scoring

The technology behind our test is patented.

  • Non-invasive

Nothing is attached to the body, and no examiner is in the room. The test taker holds a phone.

The research behind our solution comes from Converus, the company that developed the technology.

What we test for

What this test can’t do.

Know the limits before you decide.

  • It isn’t a polygraph.
  • It doesn’t read minds or intentions.
  • It can’t test beliefs, only specific past acts.
  • It can come back indeterminate, and there is no free retest.
  • It isn’t legal evidence and it isn’t a substitute for a lawyer or a counselor.

Common questions

Read all questions

No. A polygraph measures heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and skin response with sensors on the body. This test uses your phone camera to record eye behaviors and response times. They are different methods.

We collect only what we need to prepare your test and contact you. We describe exactly what we store in our Privacy Policy.

Indeterminate is one of the three possible results. It means the data wasn’t clear enough to score, which can happen when the test instructions aren’t followed. There is no free retest and no refund for an indeterminate result, so follow the instructions step by step.

Yes. The test taker must agree and take it on their own phone. If they refuse, there is no test. We don’t pressure anyone, and we suggest a conversation with a counselor if it helps.

Tell us what you need to know. We’ll tell you what it takes.
